The Beacon Year 2004/2005

The 2004/2005 Beacon year was a busy time for the Suffolk Supporting People team.  Below are just a few of the tasks undertaken during this time.

Learning Events

Getting people to share ideas and expertise was viewed as a key objective, and senior officers from the Suffolk Supporting People team led workshops across many themes:

A Fairer Charge:

Run twice, this workshop was facilitated jointly by Suffolk and Salford, and featured the two different policies developed by the teams.

Working in Partnership:
Community Safety Unit (CSU) & Suffolk Supporting People

This event was hosted at the Ipswich Suffolk County Council office, with the aim of raising the profile of the CSU and Supporting People programme within the Council.

Good Practice CD-ROM:

We developed a CD-ROM to share our practices with other authorities.   It included sections on:

Getting the Message Across

Communication is vital to success!

This section included Suffolk Supporting People’s communication strategy, as well as examples of leaflets, contact cards and an animated website demonstration.

Partnership Working

True partnership working is about realising opportunities, valuing feedback and listening to views.

The team structure and how Suffolk Supporting People work in partnership with other organisations and groups.

Making a Difference

Be proactive in taking advantage of new and emerging opportunities.

Our innovative fairer charging policy and practices for accreditation, validation visits and service reviews.

Mentoring:

We received over 100 requests for information, regarding documents and practices developed by the team.   The Luton Supporting People team participated in an one2one mentoring session, on Suffolk's service review process.
